Hear Here, Bean Beings
Hear Here, Bean Beings is a scenario created by artists Germaine Liu and Mark Zurawinski for the LOUD ZONE. The scenario will be set-up in a stationary area near the QUIET PARADE. Hear Here, Bean Beings is comprised of four speakers playing layers of sounds that have been recorded from interactions with physical environment, textures, and living, decayed, and manufactured materials found on UTM campus. In addition to the recorded sounds playing from the speakers, clothing racks with hanging objects and materials that have been collected over time by Germaine and Mark. A vessel of colourful beans is available for anyone who would like to toss the beans towards the hanging objects and materials, creating acoustic sounds that interact with the recorded sounds and sounds made by the surrounding landscape. Paper, colourful pencil crayons, and chalk are available to respond to the site, accumulating responses that change the scenario over time.
